Islands Knowledge Institute Signs Ambassador Agreement with Artist Chris Rohoimae

The Islands Knowledge Institute (IKI) has entered into a new cultural and creative partnership with Solomon Islands contemporary singer and artist Chris Rohoimae, formalizing his engagement as an Ambassador Artist for the organization.

The Ambassadorship Agreement was signed on Friday, 18^th September 2026, at the IKI Conference Room in Honiara, marking a new chapter in IKI’s efforts to incorporate music, culture and artistic expression into its programs, events and public engagement activities.

Under the agreement, Rohoimae will provide his artistic services for IKI, including live performances at official IKI events and other activities where his services are requested. His role also covers the development and performance of original soundtracks for films and videos, media appearances, features and participation in selected meetings, stakeholder engagements and special events hosted or supported by IKI.

The appointment is non-exclusive, allowing Rohoimae to continue engaging in other employment, contracts and professional activities, including working with other organizations during the term of the agreement. For activities undertaken for IKI, the artist will provide the required supporting evidence and submit an invoice for each event and entertainment service provided, in accordance with the terms of the agreement.

The Ambassador agreement provides for the partnership to operate within Solomon Islands and internationally, where required by IKI. Rohoimae’s performances will be delivered across a range of platforms, including in-person events, live streams, television, blogs and IKI’s online platforms.

The partnership places particular emphasis on cultural promotion, with the artist expected to perform traditional or culturally significant music at IKI events and other engagements assigned to him.

Speaking of the partnership, IKI said the engagement provides an opportunity to strengthen the connection between its work and the rich cultural and creative expressions of Solomon Islands.

For Rohoimae, the agreement provides a platform to share music and cultural expression with wider audiences while contributing to IKI’s events, programs and communication activities.

The partnership will also support IKI’s broader media and public engagement efforts, with the artist participating in selected media appearances and activities designed to increase public awareness of the organization's work.

The agreement further recognizes the importance of appropriate use of cultural identity, photography, recordings and other media content, with provisions relating to consent, attribution, cultural restrictions and safeguarding.

Through this new partnership, IKI and Chris Rohoimae look forward to using music and cultural entertainment to create meaningful experiences for audiences while showcasing Solomon Islands’ contemporary artistic talent and cultural heritage.
